Are there restrictions on where I can take the golf cart?

To drive a golf cart on Oak Island, the cart is to ONLY be operated on roads with a speed limit of 35 mph or less. The recommended route is Yacht Drive, where the speed limit is consistently under 35 mph. Side roads may also be used to access businesses along Oak Island Drive.

Golf Carts are not permitted on bridges entering/ exiting Oak Island.

I am 18 and have a valid drivers license. Can I drive the golf cart?

Unfortunately no, our insurance limits the drivers to be the age of 21 to drive the golf cart.

What is the 5MM Golf Cart rental process?

To rent our cart, you'll need a valid driver's license and a credit card for payment and security. Only those above the age of 21 are able to drive our cart. Additionally, you must be a renting guest with 5MM Vacations to be eligible to rent a cart.

Can my dog ride on the golf cart?

We love pups as much as you do, and we want to make sure they stay safe while riding with you! Dogs are allowed on the golf cart as long as they are properly restrained, with the owner holding appropriate leash equipment. Your dog can sit or lay comfortably while the cart is in use.

To protect the cart, we ask that seat covers are not removed to ensure that dog nails don't puncture the seats. Any damage caused by the pup could result in the loss of your security deposit.

Can the golf cart be driven on the beach?

We ask that golf cart from 5MM Golf Cart not be driven on the beach. This policy is in place to ensure the longevity and proper functioning of our cart, as it is not designed for beach conditions. Our cart is not four-wheel drive and is better suited for paved and established roads.

Additionally, the safety of our guests and other beachgoers is a top priority. While you may see some carts on the beach, they are operated by individuals with approved permits from the Town of Oak Island, which 5MM Golf Carts does not currently possess.

What should I do before returning the golf cart?

Before returning the golf cart, please ensure that all items and trash are removed from the cart. Use the hose at the front of the house to rinse off any sand, and wipe down the seats with the provided bucket and rag. Plug the golf cart in using the provided extension cord. Make sure any parking fines issued during your stay are paid. Return the golf cart key to the lockbox and upload a photo of the clean cart, along with the odometer reading, to your Airbnb rental chat. Failure to complete these steps will result in the loss of your deposit, and you may be billed for damages exceeding the deposit amount.

Will I receive a refund if I check out early or if there are weather interruptions during my trip?

Unfortunately, no refunds will be issued for guests who wish to check out early or for weather-related interruptions during your trip.

If I cancel my stay with 5MM Vacations can I keep the golf cart rental?

Our golf cart is available for rent exclusively to 5MM Vacations renters. If you have paid the deposit for the cart and your reservation is canceled:

• You will receive a full refund if canceled 5 days before your check-in date.

• Unfortunately, there is no refund if canceled within 5 days of your check-in date.

I’m having maintenance issues with the golf cart. What should I do?

If you're experiencing any maintenance issues, please follow these steps:

1. Call us immediately – Our team is ready to assist and address the issue promptly.

2. Do not tow the golf cart – Towing is not permitted.

3. No self-maintenance – Please do not attempt any repairs yourself.

4. Ensure the golf cart is fully charged – A low battery can sometimes be mistaken for a mechanical issue, so make sure the cart is fully charged before reporting further problems.

If the maintenance issue is found to be due to the rental's fault, you will be responsible for any towing fees, in addition to repair costs. We're here to help ensure you have a smooth experience!

Can I drive the golf cart to the beach?

Yes, you can drive the golf cart to the beach and park it in a designated parking spot with a yellow bumper. However, the golf cart cannot be driven directly on the beach itself. Enjoy the ride and the beautiful scenery!
